Category: Psychotic Disorders

The client is taking risperidone (Risperdal) to treat the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Improvement of which of the following negative symptoms indicate the drug is effective?
Accessed on 2.23.16

************SENIOR ADVICE TO YOUNGER STUDENTS!******************
From Ms. Davis (again!): Get involved! Participate in school activities. Take advantage of opportunities that come to you, and if they don't seek them out. Colleges (and cool people) aren't looking for complainers who don't do anything with their time.

SHOUT OUT! THANK YOU Mr. Spellman, Ms. Minott, and Mr. Cates for allowing your classes to participate in the STI screenings yesterday! We appreciate your support! Does your class read the announcements? Shout your teacher out! See Ms. Davis or email

CORRECT ANSWER to Medical Question of the Day:
  d) Asocial behavior and anergia.
Reason: Asocial behavior, anergia, alogia, and affective flattening are some of the negative symptoms of schizophrenia that may improve with risperidone therapy. Abnormal thought form is a positive symptom of schizophrenia. Hallucinations and delusions are positive symptoms of schizophrenia. Bizarre behavior is a positive symptom of schizophrenia.
