She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Oral Roberts University and a Master's Degree for Teachers of English from Brooklyn College (CUNY). She loves reading more than anything. Books are her passion. Some day she hopes to write her own. Ms. Bell also loves music and musical theatre and can often be heard singing in the halls. Another interest of hers is Latin dance, specifically Salsa and Bachata, and she is the advisor for the Marie Curie Salsa Club.

Mr. Cates

Assisting at the birth of Marie Curie High School, Mr. Cates fondly remembers when the school only consisted of small groups of students meeting in three rooms outside the cafeteria. Now, when alumni studying reconstructive orthopedic surgery visit full classrooms on our busy 5th floor, he continues to get excited about creating possibilities for our students. Before MCHS, he taught 3 years in a middle school in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. Before teaching, he was production manager for an e-commerce web site, producer of electronic legal products, and worked for national magazines and non-fiction book publishers. Mr. Cates holds a B.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, as well as a M.S.Ed. in English Education from Lehman College. He loves the written word, and believes that teaching the right way to manipulate language can empower people to change their worlds. Mr. Cates sponsors MCHS's chapter of the National Honor Society.

Mr. Childs
Mr. Childs received his BA in British and American Literature from NYU's College of Arts and Sciences and his MA in English Education from the NYU Steinhardt School of Education. Before joining the staff at MCHS, Mr. Childs worked with PLUS Career, an organization offering ESL and career development services to Korean college students visiting the United States. Mr. Childs is the advisor for MCHS's Student Government Association, which facilitates dances, blood drives, and other extracurricular and fundraising opportunities for the school community. Mr. Childs is an avid reader and writer, and he is currently working on a novel and a collection of short stories for publication.
